Once again, the WVU Football players will put on their gold and blue uniforms and fans will take to the stands of Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium for the upcoming football season. Mike Houston, the man in charge in 2016, signed a 10-year contract extension in December, but the Dukes are 32-4 in his three seasons and understand he may move on. The Big 12 Football Championship Game is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7. The championship game will be played in Arlington, Texas at AT&T Stadium through 2021. Fans sitting in odd-numbered sections (Sec. 101, 103, 201, 203, etc.) and WVU students seated in the lower level student sections are encouraged to wear Blue to the game. The non-conference matchup with NC State on Saturday, Sept. 14, will be a Gold Rush, presented by WVU Medicine.
During any seven-day period after the acclimatization, players must have one day off. Up to three days can have tackling or thuds, and three days must have no or minimal contact. Any scrimmage must be followed by a practice with no or minimal contact. If your favorite season is football season, then you’re in the right place!

A team can have a three-hour practice and include a walk-through. The walk-through can't include any contact, conditioning and pads and protective equipment and can't last more than two hours. The practice and the walk-through must be separated by three hours of recovery, though that time can include film and meetings as well as meals and treatment. The WVU-JMU game will mark the start of a new era as Neal Brown debuts as WVU’s 35th head football coach and the Mountaineers will sport newly released Nike uniforms for the first time. The break before the next game is slightly abbreviated, because WVU plays a Thursday night game at Baylor -- and that's Halloween, if last year's trip to Waco wasn't spooky enough. The final game is on a short week when WVU will travel on Thanksgiving and play at TCU on a Friday. Big 12 play begins with a game at Kansas, the second time in three years the Mountaineers have started conference competition on the road against the Jayhawks. A possible complication here would be a new head coach if the school's new athletic director decides to move on after three years of David Beaty. The Mountaineers will play six games at Milan Puskar Stadium and five Big 12 Conference contests on the road. The 2019 Big 12 media days were held July 15–16, 2019 in Frisco, Texas. In the Big 12 preseason media poll, West Virginia was predicted to finish in eighth in the standings.

The Mountaineers, who have only ever signed one player from Missouri to a scholarship, then play at the SEC's Missouri for the third time. It will be a quasi-homecoming for offensive lineman Chase Behrndt, and it will be at Faurot Field, which opened in 1926. The non-conference schedule concludes at home with a game against the ACC's N.C. State -- provided the Wolfpack don't get any ideas.
They finished the season 5–7, 3–6 in Big 12 play to finish in a tie for seventh place. One thing we've overlooked about the 2018 West Virginia football schedule is that the Mountaineers will go from start to finish and never play back-to-back games at home or away from home. There's no opportunity to sing Country Roads on the home field after a game and start the next game with that same momentum for the same friendly fans. The price for back-to-back home games is back-to-back road games, but there's an asterisk. The Mountaineers follow the Iowa State game with a trip to Oklahoma, which is the only Big 12 stadium where they have not won, but WVU is off the next Saturday.
